Hammered Copper Sink


I have brown water coming out of the bathroom sink & tub faucet + brown water in my toilet bowl. How do i fix?

  1. you may have a broken water line and the brown you see is mud,do you have a lot of air in the lines to,call maint. and have them to look at it,it wont get better

  2. It sounds like galvanized steel piping, which rusts on the inside. The more you run your water, the clearer it will get. It will improve over time (say if it hasn’t been used for a while). Sometimes when homeowners (or apartment owners) have to repipe, they only do the side that needs it first for cost purposes, which is usually the hot side because the high temp increases the speed of deterioration in the steel pipe. The hot side is clearer becase the pipe is either copper or plastic.

  3. Try running the water for a few minutes, the town might have done a hydrant flush, which in turn makes the water brown, by the way don’t do any laundry until the water runs clear.
